Professional services firm Ernst and Young, in conjunction with Innovate Finance, has released a report entitled ‘Capital Markets: innovation and the FinTech landscape’, describing how investment banking could benefit from collaboration with FinTech. It also examines key players in the area.
An increase in activity in capital markets: solutions to complex front-, middle- and back office problems have emerged recently from FinTech solutions. The report examines how and why capital markets firms across the globe can and should collaborate with FinTech organizations to drive their own evolution in the future.
In order to remain competitive, companies will have to constantly innovate and Ernst and Young recommend a collaborative mind-set to facilitate the best possible growth. Three key technologies picked out to enable this were blockchain, smart contracts and internet of things – particularly in renovating middle and back office systems that have been previously overlooked. The particular areas the technology could be applied to were noted, along with examples of how it could assist.
