Bitcoin-powered remittance startup Bitwala has been nominated one of the top 70 startups in Pioneers Festival 2016.
The Pioneers Festival is one of the largest entrepreneurship and innovative technologies events in Europe, and will take place on May 24th and 25th in tVienna, Austria.
Key speakers of the festival include Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales, along with Jason Ball of Qualcomm Ventures Europe, Frédéric Mazzella of BlaBlaCar, and Valentin Stalf of Number26. PwC, Cisco, Konica Minolta and Austria Wirtschafts Service are official partners of the festival.
Bitwala was shortlisted out of 500 participating startups. Under the financial services category, Bitwala CEO Jörg von Minckwitz will showcase the company on May 23rd at the Pioneers Challenge Day. His presentation will be in front of 300 international investors and over 2,500 attendees.

Since launching in early 2015, Bitwala has secured €800,000 in seed funding and over 2 million in transaction volume. The Netherlands-based company has introduced a Bitcoin VISA Debit Card and is developing a mobile app that will be available by third quarter of this year.
