The initial pre-release of the EOS.IO Software Development Kit, EOS.IO Dawn 1.0, has been launched. The blockchain architecture designed to enable scaling of decentralized applications has been made available to give potential users access to an early alpha-quality software in order to gain a measure of familiarity with the EOS.IO ecosystem.

Included in this release are all Phase 1 features, which includes documentation and guides for developers to build a private P2P network which will allow the testing of smart contracts. In addition to this, a few of the features slated for phase 2 have been included functional distributed networks and virtual machine sandboxing.

Alongside this release the company has also updated its website with a new homepage and an expanded resources page, where regularly new content related to EOS.IO will be added. This is scheduled to include announcements, development guides, videos, and community content.

Before the end of the year, the company hopes to release EOS.IO Dawn 2.0. This will add a number of critical features that are not present in the currently available version, including resource rate limiting in order to preventing spam and abuse, along with an upgrade to management and governance. Merkle Tree generation will allow for cross chain communication and there will be general infrastructure improvements. With this release, it is hoped that EOS.IO Dawn 2.0 will be functional enough to allow users to launch a live blockchain.
